I HAD THREE PHOTOS LEFT FROM SOFIA. LET'S POST THEM. THEY SHOW THREE THINGS I REALLY ENJOY OVERTHERE: THE EVENING LIGHT IN MY FLAT, THE SECOND-HAND MATERIALS THAT I BUY IN SOME SHOPS BY THE KILO, AND THE HANDMADE THINGS I BUY TO OLD WOMEN IN MY STREET (AN OLD BAZAR WHERE NON-PROFESSIONALS COME IN THE EVENING AND SELL THEIR OWN PRODUCTION). I HAVE NO USE OF THESE BOOTEES AT ALL, BUT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO BUY THEM. THEY LOOKED SO CUTE ON THE RUSTY EMPTY STALL, AND THE GRANDMOTHER WHO MADE THEM WAS SO GRACEFUL AND TOUCHING! THIS IS ALSO HOW MY FRIEND BOUGHT A FUNNY GREEN PAIR OF SLEEPERS THAT SHE WILL PROBABLY NEVER WEAR... LET'S SEE IF I CAN GET A PICTURE...

Maria's place in Mirkovo, a village 2 hours east Sofia.
Maria is an 82 years old workaholic woman. She still makes her own soap, cheese, jam and pickles and may find a bit of time to initiate you to the art of goat milking in between her church bell sounding duties. Photos by Lucile Demory.

Bulgarian flora, by Clarisse Demory. When she's not busy doing up her new flat, she goes around Sofia and brings us back those great shots. A good taste of what the town looks like.
